Reserving rooms for sections

How University and Department rooms are scheduled:

Typically, the main lecture room for a course is determined by the University well in advance of the quarter, and separate from discussion section rooms. You may reserve either a University or Linguistics Department controlled room for your discussion section (or like) use.

University controlled rooms are reserved on a quarter-long basis. One-time, single day use of University controlled rooms are not available for scheduling until after the quarter starts; they are therefore less likely to be available (although certainly not impossible).

Linguistics Department controlled rooms are located on the first floor of Building 460, and are conference-style. They are available first come, first served.

Additionally, each room on campus (University or Department controlled) has different technologies and attributes -- some have computing capabilities, some have windows, etc.

How to reserve a University or Department room

To reserve a University controlled room, quarter-long or single use, first make a list of all attributes and/or technologies you MUST have for your section, list the day(s) and time(s) you need a room, and then contact either the Linguistics Student Services Coordinator (Alyssa Ferree, 725-1552, 460-127E, aferree at stanford dot edu) or the Administrative Associate (Gabriela Magana, 723-4284, 460-127, gmagana at stanford dot edu) before the quarter begins. After the quarter begins, you decrease your chances to secure a room that meets your preferences.

To reserve a room controlled by the Linguistics Department (on the first floor of Building 460), send the same information above to either Gabby or Alyssa before the quarter begins.

Be sure to check out this page about scheduling times and locations: http://registrar.stanford.edu/faculty/scheduling/class_time_std.htm?id=2, which also links to a PDF of the list of recommended class times.
