Biography
Bush joined the Stanford faculty in 1957, teaching in the program in English for Foreign Students, later serving as director and developer of that program. Her other classroom teaching has included various aspects of phonetics and speech sciences. Her research has been in the areas of acoustic correlates of distinctive features, the refining of phonetic systems for the transcription of speech sounds in very early child language, innovative programs for second language English programs at the university level and the acoustic and perceptual correlates of English dialect differences.
